While many of us loath just hearing about Microsoft's Windows NT, we are frequently forced to deal with it anyway. There are practical reasons to learn a bit about how NT fits in the UNIX world, not least that most of our employers use both. At the UUASC July meeting, Mike Clark of Auspex will give us an overview of UNIX and NT and how they compare and contrast. He will discuss the trends driving NT into the traditional UNIX market, the concerns, problems, and issues surrounding integration, and what options are available. He will deal with the issues and concerns of keeping NT and UNIX completely separate, client-side software, server-side emulation, and native server-side NT.
