Comparing Linux Distributions

Monday, February 9, 7-9 pm

What is a Linux distribution? Linux is the very popular free operating system which is very much like UNIX. For those not familiar with Linux, the concept of a "distribution" of Linux can be strange. There are many and several are fairly popular.

At the UUASC February meeting, Jason Heiss of Collective Technologies will present an overview of what a distribution of Linux is, and how the various distributions differ. Jason will explain what choices someone has to make when building a Linux distribution and what additional things come with the various distributions. He'll also present guidance on what distribution is best for your business or your client's business. Jason believes there is no perfect distribution; each has things at which it excels.
