This month in Orange County brings us a presentation by UUASC member Kon Wilms. Kon will talk to us about the details of his experience with building a large scale, mobile video, content delivery network from start to finish.
This talk will go into the nuts and bolts of building a complete end-to-end mobile streaming service capable of delivering video and audio streaming to mobile handset and tablet device profiles with an emphasis on Android and iOS.
Technologies covered on the backend will include NGINX, LVS, UCARP, Gluster, Mongo DB, Beanstalk/Memcache, Streaming application platforms (the good, the bad and the ugly), and glue code (PHP, Java, shell) required to bind the services together.
Technologies covered on the front end (to a lesser extent, and mostly for demonstration) will include Mobile browser issues, OS caveats, and HTML5.
Kon is Chief Architect at StreamingMediaHosting Inc. He has been working on video management, compression, encryption and delivery systems for the last 15+ years.
