For our September meeting, UUASC-OC presents Jack Denman. Jack will speak to us about the history and technology of photography, and the transition to digital photograpy in particular.

Highlights of this presentation will include:

• A chronology and description of Jack's personal involvement in photography beginning in 1946
• The chemistry of silver photography
• The science and description of the camera and its parts
• Color and color systems as used in photography
• The digital revolution in cameras
• The future aspects of digital cameras
• Time-line of the evolution of photography beginning in the 16th century
• The influence of George Eastman, Thomas Edison, and the Eastman Kodak Company.

Jack was raised and educated in Dearborn Michigan (Henry Ford country). He spent three years at Wayne State University working towards a BS in Metallurgical Engineering. After that, he spent three semesters at the University of Phoenix towards a BSIT. He has had twenty years experience working in materials science, as well as software development, engineering, embedded systems, and testing. Finally, he has eighteen years of experience as a professional photographer as an avocation while working.
