At the August UUASC-OC meeting, member Dan Braithwaite will make his speaking debut and will discuss the MapServer product. MapServer is an open source geographic data rendering engine.

Dan will speak about the product, and his use of this product in his job at UCI. MapServer is used at UCI to visualize real-time PERSIANN-CCS global precipitation data with zoom and pan along with background images and vector overlays.

Dan Braithwaite has been working for the same scientific group at the University of Arizona and now at UCI since 1994. He currently handles the entire range of computing tasks including data acquisition, data processing/modeling/visualization, program debugging assistance, PC installs, and UNIX system administration.
