Jordan has provided a copy of his slides. We also have an audio recording of his presentation.
Jordan Schwartz, who has presented at UUASC LA and OC meetings, will provide an update and demo (projector permitting) of OpenSolaris 2008.11, which is the second bi-annual release of the Sun-supported X86 Live CD-based distribution.
The talk will cover the unique aspects of the OS infrastructure, including the apt-like IPS packaging system and ZFS, the 128 bit filesystem with integrated volume manager, as well as an update on the lastest version of the bundled desktop environment and applications.
There will also be a review of the greater OpenSolaris community and the other community supported solaris distributions, concluding with a brief overview of the Solaris 10 Update 6 release which will bring the ZFS root to the commercial Solaris based systems.
Jordan has been administering UNIX systems for over 15 years for businesses in aerospace, banking, and consumer networking.
