Second Cup of Java

Monday, October 10, 7-9 pm

Sridhar has made his slides available.

Those who attended our July meeting on Java should be ready for a refill, so Sun Microsystems is sending to us one of their top evangelists to enlighten us with the many new features of Mustang (Java SE 6), and to update us on the community development for Java's latest release.

Sun's Java expert, Sridhar Reddy, will be at the October meeting of UUASC-OC to tell us how Sun actively encourages strong contributions from the Java development community in creating Mustang. Sun particularly seeks to enable community developers to both review and contribute to the project.

Sridhar will talk about how Sun is making available weekly snapshots of the complete source and binaries. Those snapshot releases allow us to see the raw guts of the software, week by week. So, come learn how to fix bugs in Java Foundation Classes (JFC/Swing) and in core Java technologies!

Sridhar is based out of Sun's corporate offices in the Bay Area, where he has worked since 1988. He has almost 10 years of experience in Java, and conducts developer workshops at various technical conferences around the world, including at JavaOne.
