Having covered the basics of motion, editing, and text insertion in the previous course, this talk will focus on the use of regular expressions and substring substitutions within vi to assist editing files with intelligent replacements. We will also cover the use of tags files for working on C programs and the "spelltags" program which permits invivo spelling correction. There will also be time for expanded demonstration of techniques discussed in the previous course.
Vincent Cordrey first experienced UNIX in 1981 on a PDP 11/45 running Version 7. He did Systems Administration and wrote custom business software from 1984 through 1987, porting the solution to UNIX in 1988. That was when his work became almost exclusively UNIX Systems Administration.
