Real World Intrusion Detection

Monday, December 10, 7-9 pm

Mark has put the slides from this presentation on-line.

Where does intrusion detection fit in the info-security continuum? How can IDS protect your network in the face of ubiquitous encryption, gigabit Ethernet, and application-driven attacks? What pitfalls await the IDS implementer? Mark Mellis will answer these questions and more in a brief survey of real-world intrusion detection deployment.

Mark Mellis is a consultant with SystemExperts Corporation http://www.systemexperts.com and a frequent speaker at NetWorld+Interop, Usenix, and Internet World conferences. He has assisted premier Internet companies in responding to major network attacks and in designing and implementing robust security infrastructure. Prior to joining SystemExperts, Mark was the principal of Mellis and Associates where he provided consulting services to high tech firms in Silicon Valley.
