OBJECTIVE
Two years after a career change from journalism to computer programming,
I am looking for a permanent position as computer programmer in which I
can use my skills and experience to enhance the operation of a company's
programming department or website.
QUALIFICATIONS
? Expertise with Unix (AIX) – vi editor, command substitution, shell
scripts, sed
? Programming for Xerox computer printers using CompuSet/CompuPrep and
Perl languages
? Expertise with font processing – TrueType to rasterized
? Experience with Windows NT network (with TCP/IP protocols)
? HTML and JavaScript for website maintenance
? Experience with Mac file retrieval & exchange
? Successful completion of an intensive 13-month course in computer
programming at Computer Learning Center, studying such languages and
systems as COBOL, Unix, C, RPG and AS/400. Course work included
problem-solving, program writing and debugging.
? Twelve years experience with a variety of computer systems and
programs, such as Windows 95, QuarkXpress, Adobe Photoshop, Varityper
and Compugraphic in various capacities, such as typesetting, newsletter
formatting, website maintenance and network management.
? Experienced at meeting deadlines, working under pressure.
EXPERIENCE
Programmer Precision Direct Inc. April 98 to Present
Irvine
Programmed Xerox printers on Unix platform using CompuSet, CompuPrep &
Perl languages for Precision Direct Inc. (CompuPrep is similar to COBOL
in structure and syntax.) Intensive experience with multiple-directory
usage, from Macintosh to Windows; photo scanning, sizing and formating
with Adobe Photoshop; file transfers via FTP across Windows NT network;
font processing and installation on Xerox printers
Website Manager American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery Aug. 97
to April 98
Los Alamitos
Maintained website, electronic communications media and Windows NT LAN
for the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery, a non-profit
medical society in Los Alamitos; designed and installed web pages using
HTML; gained experience managing Windows NT
